Over 40 years

of rich culture

Peranakan cuisine can be described as a hybrid of Chinese, Malay and Indonesian influences. Peranakan cuisine arose through a blend of Chinese ingredients and cooking techniques, along with spices used by the indigenous Malays.

What is 'PERAMAKAN' ?

Welcome to Peramakan, we are a group of dedicated students from Communications and Media Management of Temasek Polytechnic,

with a passion for promoting and preserving Peranakan culture through its cuisine.

Peramakan is a combination of two words, “Peranakan” and “Makan” which is eat in Malay.

Our aim is to preserve our Peranakan culture through its cuisine for the current generation. Peranakan cuisine is Singapore’s oldest cuisine, so we would like to bring the dying traditional culture back to the forefront of markets.

We hope that through our website, you will be able to takeaway some knowledge on Peranakan culture and its cuisine and appreciate the richness and beauty of it.
